to be honest i'm sick of this forum being used by people who just spend their time moaning and mouthing off at eachother.
Go take your "Oh life's not fair I can't have everything I want" attitude and figure how you could do something positive instead of feeling sorry for yourself.
Name one good valid reason why this thread should not be locked and binned?

Quote from The Moose :you can blame Geoff Crammond for that

Aaaah, Geoff is my hero, he came up with Revs when i first bought a PC (A BBC micro) Revs rocked big time - max throttle and the rest of the team. I played it for hours, then he came up with GP, which was so far ahead of its time, and then stunt car racer I love geoff

thats probably the worst car to choose for ai stuff, as speed is so much more extreme, it amplifies the shortcomings. Try it on a saloon car instead.

Have you d/loaded the latest conversion (from GP4) montreal circuit?
Very bright lights, no colour saturation, another overhead thermonuclear explosion. Really hurts the eyes, it's so bright and washed-out. Pity.

not had this problem. 32-bit Vista home premium, stock vista screensaver set to 15 mins, LFS continues to take priority and no screensaver kicks in for me during a LFS session. I'm also running the latest patch W.

Yep it's a real pain. I searched for a while before working out how to turn that particular account security feature off. Got really annoyed with being advised 3 times if I wanted to create / rename a folder in a C: drive directory. Auto drag and drop zip and rar files weren't working properly either till this 'feature' was disabled. Welcome to Vista.
Looks pretty though, doesn't it? Sort of like an Apple Mac?

Quote from JohnPenn :Hotlapping in GPL offline, Far too dangerous ATM to race online.
Mosport+ Ferrari... still amazing.

Its getting embarassing how many years I've been playing GPL. It's taken a huge leap forwards today finding the rastdll hack to run it at 1680 x 1050 on the new widescreen monitor. With the new track texture addon packs it looks fabulous and runs like silk!
Really enjoying the close battles of the 65 mod at the moment, till I can relearn how to keep the bigger cars on the road.

Quote from deggis :Even if it's a team skin, isn't it just flattering that someone wants to use a nice skin made by you.

+1 it's a compliment to a good design.
I get irritated by people posting up their skins then announcing it's private and no-one can use it. If you don't want people to use it, and you're posting it to enjoy some feedback why not post up a render, cmx or in-game screenshot?

Quote from Hyperactive :Shouldn't there be "none" option as well + nascar?

Silly me, forgot the nascar series. Poll options edited.
what other race sims do you play (regularly)?

I still reckon it would look better with a proper (and smaller) carbon fibre texture

I untick the 'read-only' box, run the game, exit midway through an ai race then go back and check. The box has reactivated itself.
I guess this is not allowing my ai to learn at all?!

That's the first thing I thought of so I went in and unchecked the read-only on the lfs/data folder.
Trouble is I'm stuck with vista now and it probably won't let me do this for my own safety or something, I'm a child of Bill's nanny state. Who knows what I am now allowed to do on my own pc?!

The ATI catalyst control centre has software rotation functions for any lcd monitor plugged in.

The really great thing about the widescreen in lfs is that for the first time i can race in '1st person' mode giving a far more realistic view with mirrors and wheel. With normal monitor i just hated the reduced FOV it gave and you ended up having to distort the view zoom.

This is an in-car 1680 x 1050 view

maybe not the best to judge this as i can only compare against my old samsung 17" which was a real cheap one 4 years ago. It's running at 1680 x 1050 res, very tidy sharp fonts, same size as 1024 res on my old monitor but sharper. Colours are very vivid, styling is minimalist black. In all I can't fault it. It's the Dell E228WFP - which invites all the geeks to sling mud at my bad judgement! For photoshop it's phenomenal, huge area for drawing and keeping tool boxes open and nicely visible.
LFS rocks big time in 22" widescreen, really immersive, and IL2 looks fab as well although some of the cockpit dials on the interior views look a bit stretched. You know when you start out with a crappy likke 14" crt, then upgrade to a good 17", how you can never imagine if you had to cope again with the 14"? Well its like that now with this and my old 17".
Vista's very pretty too but its a bit 'nanny state' when you copy/paste/rename files in c: drive. Gets on my nerves till i manage to find the button for 'calssic folder view' again .
